A model portfolio is a visual introduction that shows how you look, how you read on camera, and how consistently you present yourself. Whether you are new to modelling or expanding into commercial work, understanding what should be included helps ensure your portfolio feels professional and credible.
A model portfolio is not about showing everything you have ever done. Its purpose is to clearly present your look, versatility, and suitability for the types of work you are seeking. Clarity and accuracy matter far more than volume.
At the core of any good model portfolio are clear, well-lit images that accurately represent how you look now. These images should feel natural rather than heavily styled or overly retouched.
Expressions should be relaxed and believable, allowing agencies and clients to imagine you in a variety of roles.
A small range of looks can be useful, but variety should never come at the expense of clarity. Each image should still feel recognisably like you.
Changes in wardrobe, expression, or environment should support versatility without creating mixed or misleading signals.
Clothing should be clean, simple, and well fitted. Neutral tones generally work best, keeping the focus on your face and body shape rather than fashion trends.
Avoid bold logos, heavy patterns, or styling that dates quickly.
A smaller selection of strong images is always more effective than a large collection of inconsistent ones. Agencies and clients often review portfolios quickly, so every image should earn its place.
Your portfolio should reflect how you look now. Regular updates are important whenever there are noticeable changes in appearance, hairstyle, or professional direction.
