I’m Chris Barroccu, a headshot and portrait photographer based in Swansea, South Wales. I specialise in creating clear, confident headshots and portraits for actors, performers, and professionals who need to be read authentically on camera.
Alongside my photography work, I have over a decade of experience in the television and film industry, including roles as a Lighting Director and Director of Photography (DoP) for broadcast and screen productions. This background gives me a deep understanding of how faces are shaped by light — and how people are visually interpreted on camera.
I bring that director’s eye and cinematic lighting knowledge into every headshot session, focusing on authenticity, clarity, and presence rather than forced poses or over-stylised imagery. The goal is always the same: images that feel truthful and professional, and that work effectively in real-world casting and business contexts.

Today, I apply that broadcast lighting expertise to headshot and portrait photography for actors, performers, and professionals who need images that feel authentic, confident, and credible. Every session is shaped around how you are read on camera — not trends, templates, or forced poses.
My approach to photography is shaped by years working in television and film, where lighting and direction are used to communicate character, confidence, and credibility. That experience carries directly into my headshot work.
Whether I’m photographing an actor updating their portfolio or a professional refreshing their online presence, the focus is always the same: controlled lighting, clear direction, and a relaxed environment that allows natural expression to come through.
I work on location or with a studio-style setup depending on what best suits the subject and the final use of the images. The aim is never to over-style, but to create portraits that feel authentic, polished, and fit for real-world casting or professional contexts.
Clients & Collaborations
I work with a broad range of clients who need portraits and visuals that feel credible, confident, and camera-ready.
Alongside individual clients, I’ve also worked on television and film productions for organisations including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and S4C, where lighting precision and visual storytelling are critical.
I keep headshot sessions straightforward, relaxed, and focused. Most people are not comfortable in front of a camera — and that’s completely normal. My role is to guide you clearly, adjust lighting precisely, and create an environment where natural expression can emerge without pressure.
Sessions are structured but flexible, allowing space for subtle changes in expression, posture, and energy. Rather than forcing poses or trends, I focus on how you are read on camera and how the images will be used in real-world contexts.
The result is a set of headshots that feel professional, believable, and genuinely representative — whether they’re being viewed by casting directors, clients, or colleagues.
My background includes professional work across television, film, and commercial photography, with experience as a Lighting Director and Director of Photography on broadcast productions. This training shapes how I approach light, composition, and performance in every shoot.
That experience allows me to translate complex lighting decisions into simple, effective setups that support clarity and authenticity — without making the process feel technical or intimidating.
